In this course, Ashley will take you through the process of reading the information in your life, returning to the belief system to review, releasing the restriction framework that is no longer suitable for serving you, and re-setting your life mode that you want to experience. Start your inner strength, make offerings for your day. For this class, it is a lecture and all levels are welcome.

Betsy Laban

Teacher

From Betsy, “A diagnosis of fibromyalgia gave me the incentive to come to yoga to help heal my body, mind and spirit. I was certified by my Guru through the Sajni Yoga Center in Bangalore, India. Other blessings along the way include co-founding Gita Yoga Learning Center where I have trained and certified several 200 and 500 hour yoga instructors, and provide continuing education units through Yoga Alliance. I was able to study with Dr. Larry Payne with whom I continued my education in POLY (Prime of Life Yoga) obtaining my POLY500 through SAMATA/LMU. I received my certification in Yoga Nidra with Dr. Marc Halpern (California College of Ayurveda) and most recently acquired my certification in Back Care Yoga (Vista Yoga Academy). My own body and health issues showed me that not only was I going to heal myself but that it was my Dharma to help others do the same. There is no greater joy than watching people leave our time together, with happy faces and lighter hearts. With that in mind I followed my calling even further obtaining my Reiki Master certification leading me to the world of energy healing.

I have been given the opportunity to study with some of the most amazing teachers. I have gathered wisdom from the masters to the ones who are not as well known. There is nothing quite as lovely as sharing everything they have given me to help others heal their bodies, their minds, their spirit by showing them the joys of finding and living their truth.

It is a blessing to serve and to be a part of a community of loving, caring healers.”

Lisa Harris

Teacher

Being a first grade teacher by day – but a yoga teacher in the evenings and on weekends – has made Lisa masterful at breaking down and communicating the intricacies of yoga poses in a very clear, concise and transformative way. She promises not to speak to you like you are in first grade! However, as you move in and out of poses in Lisa’s class she will speak to you about the nuts and bolts of your body. Anatomy, biomechanics, postural alignment, and the beneficial therapeutic aspects of yoga are Lisa’s passion and are integrated into each class in a fun and informative way. Her focus is on helping students get to know the areas of their bodies that may be underused, overused, or otherwise abused, and move them toward balance.

Lisa has practiced and taught hatha yoga at studios around Redlands since 1998. An avid learner, she has received certifications from Erich Schiffmann, Anusara yoga, Śraddhā yoga, and Yoga Tune Up®. Lisa also draws regularly on other trainings emphasizing practices that align, heal, stretch, strengthen and stabilize. Her repertoire includes the unique therapeutic element of self-massage with myo-fascial release balls, to relieve tense or restricted muscles, and help you live better in your body.

Lisa views the physical practice of yoga as a way of moving toward deeper awareness in our bodies, which ultimately leads to deeper awareness in our hearts. “When we focus intently on our breath and physical bodies, our minds quiet to the other distractions that create veils over our True Self and what we deeply desire in our hearts.” With wit and honest transparency, Lisa brings inspiration and healing to her students by helping them look at all aspects of life with a practical, life-supporting philosophy, on and off the mat.

Here is what Brian shares, “After finishing my training with Leeza Villagomez, I was asked to be an assistant in her teacher training. I also have had the pleasure to study with Saul David Raye, Janet Stone and Shiva Rea. Yoga is more then just asana to me now; in the beginning I was attracted to physical benefits of the practice, now it’s just the complete mind body connection and how I view situations and my reactions. My training has really been focused on less is more, but also learning how the let go of the baby blanket and explore while being safe and conscious. I hope students that practice with me can just let go and drop expectations and really enjoy their inhales and exhales, while respecting where they are at in the moment with the heart open.”

Alona Smith

Teacher

Alona Smith is a friend of Big Bear Yoga Festival, and has been with us since the first year. Here is what Alona shares, “I began practicing Yoga over fifteen years ago, yet I feel I have been practicing asanas (postures) since I was a child and before I knew these postures had names. A knee injury I received after running a marathon led me to my first class. There I received more than just a workout. It was spiritual and emotional and a sure introduction into what would then become my way of life.

My intentions as a teacher and as founder of the Anam Cara studio are to be compassionate, empowering, and inspiring, and to create a safe and fun environment where students can learn to listen to, honor and respect their bodies, achieve more balance in life, reduce stress, and increase flexibility. I believe that continual physical movement, meditation, mind/body awareness and good nutrition are the road to well being and happiness. I received my teacher training under Scott Miller at Western Yoga College. My classes emphasize a balance of strength and ease in the body, with attention to alignment and safety. I enjoy working with people of all ages, body sizes, shapes, abilities and genders, helping them feel comfortable with yoga and themselves.”
